Adishwar Jain & his Collage works
Although Adish is a hobby painter without a formal art education, a former university art champion, he has had the privilege of having his work nominated for the National Art Award by the Alva Foundation in 2012-13 and the Bombay Art Society in 2019.
His frames often juxtapose serious subject matter with an irreverent, playful spirit, as shown in his shots of forts, castles, real life, and other civilizations. His collage paintings have been shown three times at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, as well as at the Bombay Art Society, World Trade Centre, the Birla Art Academy in Kolkata, the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi, the Nehru Art Centre in Mumbai, and the Chitrakala Parishad in Bangalore and many more.
“Most of my paintings are inspired by the hobby of travelling. I like seeing new places, and once I do, my creative sensibilities take over my vision, and I immediately begin planning how to transform my experience into a collage artwork”, says Adishwar.
In March 2017, Palace Art Gallery in Red Car, England included his collage paintings in a group show with 26 foreign artists. Out of the approximately 700 submissions from across the globe, his work was likely the only one chosen from entire Asia, maybe only because of his unique art. In a Music & Art event presented by International Art Centre, Canada, his collage paintings were on display in the hall of Best Western, Milton, Canada, in September 2018.
Adish Jain's artwork was included in the September 2018 issue of the Spice Jet in-flight magazine under the heading "Beauty From Torn Paper." Seeing his art accolades, in December 2020, the most prestigious IIT-Mumbai invited him as a judge in their annual collage art competition.
